We’re excited to welcome Alex Julian to Highlands Residential Mortgage as our new Director of Strategic Growth!
Alex brings nearly 10 years of mortgage recruiting experience, with a proven track record of helping companies attract top talent and grow production. Throughout his career, he’s recruited more than 300 loan officers, contributing billions of dollars in annual production to the organizations he’s supported. He’s also led recruiting initiatives at the regional, divisional and national levels, building an extensive network of relationships across the mortgage industry along the way.
Alex also brings a unique perspective to recruiting. In 2025, he earned his NMLS license and stepped into the role of a loan officer himself, closing two loans in a single month while managing a recruiting department. His goal was simple: to better understand the challenges, opportunities and day-to-day experiences of the mortgage professionals he works with. That firsthand experience helps him connect with loan officers on a deeper level and better understand what matters most when considering their next career move.
His experience also includes earning his NMLS license in 2025, giving him firsthand insight into the day-to-day experiences of the loan officers he recruits.

Based in Moseley, Virginia, just outside Richmond, Alex enjoys spending time outdoors, especially backpacking and camping. He’s always up for a new adventure and enjoys staying active. Alex and his wife have three daughters and are looking forward to welcoming a baby boy in February.
As Highlands continues to expand, Alex will play an important role in our recruiting efforts, helping us connect with experienced mortgage professionals, build strong teams and introduce more loan officers to the opportunities available at Highlands.
