For the 2nd year in a row, Highlands Residential Mortgage was a key sponsor for the annual Bags for Badges Bingo night, supporting the Dallas based Assist the Officer Foundation. We are so proud to be a part of such an incredible organization! Several members of Highlands family were in attendance and a great time was had by all!

Bags for Badges started as an idea five years ago when a small group of Dallas Police Association Spouses wanted to find a way to raise money for Assist the Officer Foundation. This team spent hours upon hours planning for the first event without knowing if they would raise any money. People said they would be lucky to break even. After the first year, they realized they were onto something. Each year the DPA Spouses have been able to raise more money than the previous year for Assist the Officer!

The Assist the Officer Foundation provides financial assistance to officers who are facing the loss of income due to a serious injury, life-threatening illness or other catastrophic event. Immediate assistance is also available to an officer’s family in the event of the death of an active officer. Since its creation in 1999, the foundation has provided assistance to hundreds of officers and their families who were faced with any number of different life-altering situations.
